BOOK REVIEW: "A GIRL'S ON-COURSE SURVIVAL GUIDE TO GOLF". By Christina Ricci
Okay, so the book has a pink cover, so what. "A Girl's On-Course Survival Guide to Golf", is a smartly written, well illustrated and focused guide for a novice woman golfer. I would think that it would be part of any of the instructional literature suggested for a ladies golf school. The book is also designed so that it can easily be put in your golf bag.

Hi Christina-not-the-actress!  Hahaha!  Loved that. Actually, I bought your book at Barnes & Noble on Tuesday.  I was eating my lunch today reading through it and thought I’d take a peek at the website and decided, hey, what the heck, why not join up? You have done what I aspire to do…so I’m going to “clip” the book to my bag and pray to the golf gods that it will put me straight.  I’ve been golfing on-again off-again since I was 12…I’m pushing 54 right now…ugh…and I cannot get out of playing in the mid-50’s…it is the pits.  So I asked my pro (we belong to a Club here in Nashville) if he would “mentor” me somehow so that I could begin to actually enjoy the game rather than looking at it as a chore...they’ll help me as much as I want, so that’s good, but I really liked the presentation of all the aspects of the game that you provide in your book.  Sometimes, it helps to get a new perspective!

I have a copy of your book, "A Girl's On-Course Survival Guide to Golf", and I have to tell you it is fantastic. The advice is absolutely spot-on: clear, easy to grasp and easy to follow  (unlike most golf publications). I have a little problem, though; not a big problem, just a teenie-weenie problem. The book is pink. I love pink, and I love girls. But do you by any chance have this same book in blue? As l say, this is a great book and I will use it (secretly, if I have to), but a blue edition sure would make make things a lot easier.

I have been reading your guide and wanted to let you know that the pictures are a tremendous help. I have been reviewing the pre-game, grip, shoulder turn, aim and iron shot techniques. I personally need a lot of visuals to help me. I also like how you explain each part. It is easy to understand without being too technical.

I bought your book this week and love it. I'm a 54 year old mom of 6 who has been golfing about 5 years and struggle with a 28 handicap. I want so badly to improve. I'm hoping to shave 10 strokes off my handicap and will do anything to get there. My youngest is off to college next year so hopefully I'll have even more time to play! Thanks for a great book and an exciting web site!

What others have to say …

First, let me congratulate you on an excellent book. I bought it for my wife and read it myself. It is well laid-out and informative without being too wordy or technical.

I did find one important piece missing that would be of value to players such as my wife. She struggles with below or above the feet lies. I find this to be a more commonplace lie than the uphill or downhill lies at our club. In your next edition, please consider adding this scenario.

Again, congratulations on publishing an excellent book!

Dear Christina,

One hour ago, I have received the book "A Girl's On-Course Survival
Guide to Golf", many thanks.

I have already appreciated the book-guide for the exclusive format. Now, I must to read the technical councils and to lower the score !

Thank you also for the fine dedication :-)
When you come in Italy, we could play together (the Abbruzzo region
confines with Lazio).

Best of luck also you, Paola

I highly recommend this book to those who are struggling to improve or who know they can be better -- just can't afford the fees of a pro! I have already shaved five strokes off my handicap and am doing better every time I play -- keep the book on your night stand at night and your bag on the course
